Peripheral vascular surgery is not exactly "sexy" whereas in the eyes of the public heart surgery is. The heart is obviously a very important part of the cardiovascular system but it is only just that; a part. The rest of the vascular tree is equally important and diseases of the pipes that the heart pumps blood into is responsible for a considerable amount of serious and disabling pathology leading to failure of vital organs, amputation of limbs and stroke.

I hope that by the time you have had an opportunity to peruse the various pages that you will be enlightened as to what vascular disease is, how blood vessels become blocked or widened, how they malfunction and what can be done about it.
